it will further drive down prices, making new Teslas look worse, and in the “utter price collapse” scenario, a lot of them will likely end up used as battery banks for solar plants.

Again… WHO will buy those Teslas?
Furthermore, most current owners are middle-class families choosing 3s and Ys, that count for most sales. Most also bought these low-cost maintenance cars for environmental reasons and can’t afford to sell at too high a loss.

I mean, I really do think it’s just gonna get worse as Tesla hits further dire straits in China and Europe. It’s up to those owners to try and drive their cars into the ground and get that value out, but doing so is, in my genuine belief, a shaky bet at best.

Not a pleasant scenario, because if the company collapses the cars can’t be serviced or have spare parts available anymore, but I understand better now. Thank you.

It’s definitely not. I’m poor and I get how much it sucks to have massive expenses like this become such fraught issues, but I wrote it because I genuinely think if you’re worried about being underwater, that means you should act sooner rather than later

Great article. We sold our Tesla last year when the signs were there. Still hard to fathom anybody who owns a Tesla and doesn’t support fascism hanging on to it.

For sure! That’s my jam. I just got back from a trip to the Mojave but didn’t take the Riv because of the distance etc. I have slept in it and very comfortable.
