Another vote for 2001. Coolest choice with a cool reason they picked it up (the film being there), most beloved by fans - no one at phish is EVER upset by 2001. Amazing lights.
I tend to go with the Dead's total ownership of 'Iko Iko'. JiMiller Band out of Cleveland does a tasty cover of Talking Heads' '(Nothing But) Flowers'.
My current favorite? All Fall Down Billy Strings. I’m a massive John Hartford fan and Billy does special stuff with it. Got it live for the 1st time couple of weeks ago.
Glad you dug it! It was wild in person. One of those where they just stand there all proud afterward, lol. Have been giving that Ft. Worth show another listen this afternoon. Just superb. Thanks for the reminder!
I posted one in this thread. It was their first (at the end of scoring the whole movie), but I believe they hit their stride with these if you have nugs
I like covers where the band makes it there own like Garcia did with Sugaree. I love GD version of it’s all over now baby blue but still similar to original. I like what Eggy is doing with Time Escaping
not submitting for best but anytime my Morning jacket covers I pay attention because they're genreally quite good. Rocketman, It makes no Difference, Bra, etc....

BMFS cover of Ole Slewfoot.
Played Scarcely: Phish’s cover of Spanish Moon
Some bands cover Pigs and Echoes well, but I would never say they do it better than Floyd.

It’s never been good
Gimme a version to listen to
Morning Dew has become so identified with the GD that it barely comprises a cover.
I don’t regularly listen to UM but think they do a great Eminence Front

Grateful Dead - Morning Dew
Jerry Garcia Band - Senor, Don’t Let Go
