I've been trying to go for daily walks. enjoying nature. And it's now seed-starting time here in my neck of the woods, and things are going strong in the greenhouse.
This year we have been buying over ripe bananas that are almost free at the grocery store & freezing them. My husband goes around with an auger & drills holes then I drop a slice of frozen banana & a bulb + seeds in the hole. Right now they look like tiny crop circles; we are hoping for flowers. π·π»
I brought back my large veg garden from being nothing but a forgotten weed patch (and did a YouTube video about it). I just did several posts on what's growing there now and other sources of grown or foraged food where I live.
There were very few bees and insects in our part of the UK last year (Yorkshire Dales). I have dug up two borders and just planted wild flowers in them for 2025 to hopefully help encourage more back.
am in a deep freeze in Canada at the moment, and am using the time to plan an intensive garden overhaul. Going to finally get rid of 2/3rds of my lawn area and convert to food production because I'm not confident in future stability.
#YES We have not had a lawn for 15 years. Huge amount of work but you will be so happy with the results (ignore your neighbors' complaints, they are just jealous).
I'm planting more of all the things that do well here in West Texas. I plan to can more, freeze more, and dehydrate anything that doesn't move too quickly.
