My respect for your TTRPG opinions suffers a permanent and cumulative -1 penalty each time you say "roleplay" when it's clear from context that you meant "social interaction," "noncombat encounter," or "disengagement from game mechanics."

When i had a DM that only said "You miss", move on or "you hit, roll damage" and NEVER described anything of our or the other characters or monsters actions, i discovered a new kind of pain.
At least, it informed me to always be roleplaying and describing, no matter the situation.
Ohh i get it.
Yeah, so i still 100% agree with your statement previously!
Putting yourself on the shoes of the character, and actively interacting with the world, be you an NPC from the DM or a Player, is extremely important to me also.
As a DM, i like to well "Roleplay" all my cast of npcs,
Sometimes everything you need to know is communicated with just a few words. In those cases, a more elaborate description is less about "roleplay" and more about performance. That's not a bad thing; if it brings joy, do it. But elaborate descriptions are not more truly "roleplay" than short ones.
Yeap, same campaing of Lancer i commented, there was a player that barely wanted to speak. But everytime she does, it's not the player, it IS the character talking and acting.

Not been disingenuous, really want an exemple to understand!
As english isn't my native language, it's always good to see how people use certain words in other contexts ^^
Description is necessary for *group* roleplay, so that you're all engaging the *same* imaginary world, staying in sync with each other.

Pulling their own interests, agendas, ideas and such.
When i'm playing a and the DM use most NPCs like they are there just to fill up dead air, it loses me HARD in the game.
Reason i almost jumped off a Lancer game,
