I think one of the reasons I'm so frustrated about people acting like indie media just started in 2024 as someone who has been running an outlet for 8 years is that it really shows that either no one cared before or no one cares actively unless you had recognition and bylines already.

If you're indie from the start, you ain't part of the club
1)do real indie;
2)get noticed by marvel/DC;
3)climb their ladder for them for a bit until you're a known quantity and have written a few events;
4)do a creator-owned series for Image that's a thinly veiled movie pitch;
5)repeat 4 til optioned
I'm just tired.
But the quality of the work never changed. Just where I was doing it. And now I'm right back here. It's incredibly frustrating.
