Chinese authorities are hopefully aware that occupy Taiwan would kill the hen with golden eggs. They are just brandishing weapons, barking, but I don't belive they'd bite. They're as mean, but less stupid than Russians.

They know what they’re doing. China wants long term power not simply territory. It’s a lot harder to oppose them when you’re completely alone and China starts putting serious money on one side of the table and reminders of Hong Kong on the other.
China imports Semiconductor Devices primarily from: Japan ($2.68B), Malaysia ($2.16B), Taiwan ($1.86B), South Korea ($1.14B), and Singapore ($871M)
If China occupies Taiwan, Japan and South Corea would certainly introduce sanctions, so China would be blocked on semiconductor market. Stupid move.
