You know what I would love to see is compelling, dynamically-written, general-audience-accessible biographies of famous composers (especially marginalized or little-known), in the vein of Loving Frank or Radium Girls. The middle-aged book club ladies need to know about the Schumanns

I've just checked on amazon uk, and the prices are eyewatering. I'm guessing it's out of print, which isn't helpful...
Maybe they have others in the range, that might be more appropriate to your requirements.
Maybe I've finished the Cointreau, and therefore can't be bothered to go searching right now. This seems probable.
She LOVES getting temporarily obsessed with some historical figure via these kinds of books, and I think she would ADORE Clara Schumann (maybe more than I do!), but she says all the books on her are dry and technical. We can do better!
