If they're going to violate your rights, they were going to whether you talk or not. In this case, they let Hasan go as soon as he asked for a lawyer.

I think it's important to bring to light what LEOs are doing in regards to attacks on free speech. Why was he asked about his political views? I think the first amendment implications are huge here.
He explicitly told his audience not to do what he did, so whatever happens to them will be a consequence of their own poor decision-making skills.
