Orwell formulated those few choice words in 1942 (a time, firstly, when the world was significantly more threatened by fascists than it is now, something I say without minimizing the current threat) and then rolled them back in 1944, incl. an explicit 'mea culpa':

Don't know to what extent Orwell had read Bacon but what he describes in that passage there is discussed in detail in the Novum Organum (albeit in different terms). Closer to now, in a 1998 review of confirmation bias studies, Nickerson designated 'case-building' as the main bad habit to overcome.

I am a pacifist. Because in the actual case things go south, there is a big probability that I could die. I served in the FDF and always willing to serve.

There is a huge difference between being a pacifist and being harmless.

This is a lesson Europe should learn. Fast.

In Finland, geopolitics is just another word for family history. At least for the people who know their history.

I am not into flaming our history. Instead all should see and watch what is happening in Ukraine.

USA can probably force a bad peace. It will have consequences. I know.

My grandmother, on my mothers side, was in the Bund Deutscher Mädel.

My grandfather, on my fathers side, was in the Homeguard, and in the Blitz.

Both sides of my family has seen Europe burn from different perspectives.

If we don't stop the flames in Ukraine, they will spread, and we will all burn
