True. Birds panic and die of heart attacks. Every morning after fireworks, I come across dead birds on the bike path. Heartbreaking.

They also fly off nests in panic. Eggs and flightless chicks are exposed to predators. Or chicks flee ground nests, then get lost or trampled by crowds.
So awful.

I hate New Years and Jul 4; it's like a war zone. We have an Indian reservation not too far from us that sells fireworks (that are, by the way, illegal in our neighborhood). I take sleeping pills and don ear plugs to sleep during the night. Some absolutely rock our house, they're so powerful.

Awful that an Indian reservation sells them. You'd think they'd care more about the animals. Sleeping pills/ ear plugs are a good idea. Especially if the fireworks are shake walls. They hurt animals after the display night, too. The used ones fall everywhere, birds and small animals get tangled.

I remember years ago, my neighbor's dog got loose (they were not home - argh - wrong day not to be home with pets!) and it got hit by a car, running, so startled from the fireworks.
This is also the time when all the "missing" pet signs start popping up 😿

Indeed. Was happy to see this. Everyone should be aware of how terrifying fireworks are for all animals, and those with pets *must* know. If you're often in nature, you know, too. After every such night, I come across at least 2 dead birds on the cycle path. They die of fright .. by heart attack. 💔
