People love to argue this point, but you rarely ever see anyone argue it isn't, so thought I'd say nuh-uh to that. Well there you go, a little treat for you.
I mean, it was released in July. It was a summer blockbuster. But the novel (Nothing Lasts Forever) is specified as a Christmas set story, and the setting (Christmas Eve) of the movie supports it. But the release does make it a summer hit. 15th July.
Then neither is "It's a Wonderful Life", it is a movie about a man going through depression and wanting to end his life...and it's set partly around Christmas time.
My argument for Christmas Songs is "If you can play it outside the Christmas season & it not feel weird, it's not a Christmas Song." (Ie East 17's Stay Another Day which is great but could be played outside Christmas fine IMO). I think that logic could be applied to movies to disqualify Die Hard.
i mean i don't really think it is i just like to say so cause it annoys people. Even if the movie has a christmas party as party of it's setting it doesn't really have christmas at the forefront of it's theming
I never watched it before till this past weekend and it’s set at a Christmas party with all the greatest Christmas bangers so to me it’s a Christmas movie
Clearly not a Christmas movie. Had it been released in time for Christmas, together with the setting being Christmas eve, yeah, there would be an argument.
But if it was a Christmas movie, it would have been released in December.
He is coming to see them for Xmas. It happens at a Xmas party. When it came out it was billed as a Xmas movie. What are y’all missing. What am I missing.
Doesn’t matter what one person thinks, many more will disagree. It’s a movie set at Christmas time, ergo, it’s a Christmas movie. It has a Christmas tree, snow, a Christmas party. All the makings of a Hallmark Christmas movie.
It is, it's set during an office Christmas party, and it's about two estranged spouses trying to come together for the holiday. They have to overcome many obstacles to reunite, including armed gunman trying to Grinch it up by robbing the vault. Minus the gunman, and it could be on Hallmark.
I saw a post wherein the poster she the movie Se7en is more of a Xmas movie than Die Hard because in that movie they at least talk about the Bible and Brad Pitt gets a present at the end.
Honestly, getting tired of these engagement bait posts about die hard (yes, I'm aware of the hypocrisy of engaging). Fuck off and just watch Die Hard and enjoy it.
I mean, either any movie set at Christmas is a Christmas movie, or only movies whose main plot revolves around Santa or the Christmas story are Christmas movies.
Ergo, if Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie, none of those Hallmark romcoms are either.
It just have a Christmas background! But in the movie,John McClane give gifts to all of the terrorists, a bullet! Merry Christmas with a bullet that will end your life! That's what the meaning of Christmas!
I suggest "Tokyo godfathers" created by Satoshi Khan. A lovely movie about three unhoused people (an "old drunk", a trans woman, and a teenage runaway) finding a baby in the trash and trying to find her parents.
It's a beautiful exploration of the true meaning of family.
I am not cursing people with this but the thing I always fall back on is that "Die Hard on an [x]" is such a trope yet whenever you see Die Hard done in something else it's not as the christmass episode
The tree lighting (Attacked by Penguin then Miss Gotham throw off a building) and Max's christmas party (during which Penguin kidnaps all the first born to kill them). That stupid mistletoe saying also leads to Batman and Catwoman learning each other's secret identities.
Seems rather christmasy
It's a movie that happens during Christmas but it's not Christmas themed so depends on how you classify a Christmas movie lol are we talking it has Christmas themes? Or are we talking the entire movie is Christmas focused? Cause all arguments lead back to it's a Christmas movie lol

Everyone knows the real reason for the season:
Santa’s Slay starring Goldberg, James Caan, Chris Cattan, and Fran Drescher.
The last three for approximately 2 minutes of screen time.

If a movie has a Christmas song on the soundtrack… it’s a Christmas movie.
The Shining is a Christmas movie
It's a Hanukkah movie
Checkmate, BUCKO
I’ll go get my popcorn.

I've always wondered about that.
😆
As it turns out.... I couldn't.

What's the thing that brings all the characters together? A Christmas party.
Have you even seen the movie?
There I said it.
Read the lyrics please.
Cuz Batman Returns is an Xmas movie!
(I may or may not be shitposting, but I do genuinely love that film and since it takes place during Xmas...IT KINDA COUNTS?)
Seems rather christmasy
