I'm so happy I got this one a couple weeks back, it's so good! And it has like, so many tiny variables and modifiers that can make the game unique for each player/playthrough... An absolute gem, I hope more people get to play it.

The thing that caught my eye about the game was the visuals, I bought it immediately because the creepy, offputting pixelart characters and monsters were amazing, it's definitely got some of the best and most striking pixelart I've seen. It's exquisitely grotesque, I love it.

The thing that really impresses me even more is the sheer amount of pixelart on display, there are so many weird and wonderful NPCs and utterly grotesque monsters that all look so completely different and have all their own bespoke animations, it's truly incredible to see the variety displayed.

Every major encounter in the game is just so well done, there's usually characters and monsters with their own unique visuals and animation that are completely unique to a given room in the apartment building you're exploring, the little side-stories you go on are so well written and engrossing.

Another thing I adore about this game? The music.

It's magnificent. It's perfect. It's got a wonderfully 80s horror synth feel to it that just lends itself to the cosmic horror vibes so very well. And like any good survival horror, has a wonderful safe room theme:

Combat is turn-based here, it starts off fairly simple, but gets a lot of fun when you recruit new party members who can have some very fun movesets and abilities that take some setup but reward you with powerful buffs or attacks. Lot of great games with turn-based combat lately, eh? 😊

I don't want to say too much else about it, because I'd been avoiding spoilers for the game like the plague and just mucking about to see what would happen, and seriously enjoyed finding out. It's a truly wonderful game, and a phenomenal take on the cosmic horror genre.

Finished it last night (got 3 endings: both paths on Perfect Ritual + Imperfect Ritual) and REALLY enjoyed it. That game has a ton of fucking heart, and I got really attached to so many characters throughout.

Think I’m gonna try Fear and Hunger 2, or Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass next!

There are some scenes of head trauma or just body horror involving heads and teeth in general. Some of this is experienced from a first person point of view via narration and sound effects. Some of these scenes are side content and could never be seen unless you accidentally trigger them
