100 percent, live service systems has been a slow cancer upon video game entertainment. Molding, manipulating everyone into believing it’s ok and expected to constantly spend money on trivial cosmetics, further messing up internal cohesion and aesthetics of the original launch, creating a noisy mess

I'm not gonna act like PUBG is some shining gem, but since I played a shitload of PUBG before Fortnite was even a thing, I just always felt like Fortnite was just PUBG with worse... everything. TPP is worse, no leaning, the guns feel goofy, and building is just another layer of sweatiness.

Like, it was not the first game to do any of the predatory stuff it does but it sure "perfected" and mainstreamed them, and gets away with it because "at least it's not lootboxes"

Gran Turismo - in attempting to achieve accuracy I find the franchise very dull

Journey - I feel like it was one of the first indies to break mainstream in the way it did, but it's actually quite mediocre compared to lots of other indies

Yeah, you can't just hate a game because it's old and doesn't have all the shiny graphics - you gotta hate the game for being massively anti-consumer (FOMO tactics such as artificial scarcity timed paid items, the aforementioned GAAS live service model, locking out story content like Destiny, etc).
