Suggests the NYT may be rethinking its absurd redefinition of “corruption” to mean only “a bribe with an explicit quid pro quo”. Obviously “corruption” is much broader in both its popular and legal understandings; otherwise anyone could dodge it by being a bit circumspect in conversations

For me corruption is any decay of "rule of law", but there be more rigorous definitions
