Maresca gets an A for match plans. Chelsea were excellent in the first 30 minutes of matches by xG, with the best NPxGD and second best actual non penalty goal difference.

I have some quibbles with fullback/CB choices, but his build/press set ups were generally very effective.

I think in general, Chelsea have really struggled to maintain and ratchet up pressure when tied/chasing games.

Similarly, Maresca was one of the least subby coaches in the league.

This is a key development point for 2025/26, if you want to improve.

D for in match coating.

C- for player improvement. Some players got better (Noni/Moi/Colwill), some got worse/stagnated (Gusto/Palmer/Jackson).

Young squad, gotta help players get better.

A for squad usage. 23 players >1000, 0 above 75% total mins. Was 17 and 5 respectively in 23/24. His willingness to use the squad to eat games was a big positive.

That's much harder with Inter (A) between Brentford and Fulham, instead of Shamrock Rovers. Keep an eye here.

B for academy. Better than expected, 8 debutants is nice. Good to see Josh/Tyrique get ~2000 total mins.

Was probably too conservative with the other academy guys in Conference League.

How does he find minutes without that competition in 25/26 and continue their development?
