Speakers wise, anything you have now, unless it's real low end (like sound bar and tiny side speakers, or pc speakers) is undoubtedly better. Receiver wise, some of the vintage stuff has a real unique sound that the specs don't show.

I have 1970s B&O BeoVox 4703 that are amazing. And early 80s Mirage SM-.5 I’ve just repaired.

Nice. I've got a pair of I'm guessing circa 1980s kenwood cabinet speakers (with tone selectors), and a pair of late model sony bookshelfs running to a yamaha v496. My vintage receiver is a sherwood s-8910, the yamaha was an upgrade but I do wanna use the sherwood on something again.

It might be worth picking some of that up if nothing else for resell later. In person shopping is a lot of times just people getting rid of stuff they don't really know they have.
