FWIW, more like 288 men. 238 alleged Venezuelans and 23 alleged Salvadorans on March 15 (not counting the 8 women rejected by CECOT and returned), 17 more on March 30, and another 10 transferred from Guantanamo on April 12. For some reason, the media keeps obfuscating the total number.

I don't think they're obfuscating, so much as wary of making an estimate that errs high and being called liars for it.

The instinct is to stick to the number they know, even if they know it is low, and throw 'at least' in front of it, because then they're not wrong.

Cartel/narcos/gangs aren't some evil deep state made up entirely of hardened criminals. It's everything. It's the guy selling tacos. The bus driver. People told either pay us, lose your job, or worse.

I'm aware. The most horrifying part of it to me is that they are using the terrorism laws to do all of this.

When I was young my now MAGA folks freaked out about Patriot Act etc: "Obama is gonna call us terorrists to round us up!"

Now it's literally happening, by one of their own. Utter silence.
