Yeah, I have a private Discord server with multiple channels for storing different kinds of links - one a clipboard for moving text/images between devices, the others mostly for various different projects I work on.

Not really a social media app but a messaging app but Signal lets you send a text to yourself that will appear as "Note to self" and if you have the Signal app on the desktop, your reminders and lists are synced and accessible on both.

WhatsApp probably allows that too but Signal looks nice

You can sort of do it on Discord! If you make a server, you can make private channels that only you can see. I use them for exactly this purpose.

The Discord workaround of making a private server just for yourself *works* (and lets you also make channels to categorise thoughts a bit) but has the downside of being, well, Discord.

Makes sense. I learned to use paper lists at my mother's knee back in the 70's (still have 2 steno pads in use right in front of me as I type), and in the Navy (even in my dress uniform) I always had a pocket notebook. So, Docs is more a natural fit for my particular workflow/thought process.

I kept all my personal notes in Signal DMs to "self" until I got Obsidian up and running. I still use it for voice recordings

I kind of soured on having a bunch of different spots for notes, though. Hard to remember if I was using signal or texting or whatever else.
