I didn't find it incredibly complex, but it's very gratifying how much winning it relies on developing and trusting your intuition. I'm generally a very defensive-minded player, but this game really lets one ride a high of aggression in a high-tempo decision loop paying off (more often than not).

Fun part, I think in my first run I managed to sink a U-Boat by functionally every method - one by my ship with depth charges, one by my escort with depth charges, one by air support (with depth charges) and one I kept at until he was forced to surface, then blasted with the 5-inch guns.

There is absolutely collision damage in the game and I very nearly smacked into a merchant ship trying to keep on the cagey fellow, but no, I didn't ram anything.

That last one was cagey though, doing the venerable 'hard course correction as you hit the sonar dead zone' trick to keep dodging my depth charges.

I got lucky he was one of the last contacts to come in, so my escort could handle things while I just sat on him till he was forced up. Ton of fun.

Yeah, I mean, simulation game from what I gather is a small indie studio, so I was prepared to accept that it would be very limited.
