I'm sure Sony wasting years of game making and billions of dollars in live service bets will all be worth it when Fairgame$, I mean Fairgames, releases.π€£
I feel bad from Jade Raymond, I've heard very good things about her from colleagues, but she has had an absolute string of misfires at this point. I don't think she's getting another chance with real money.
It happened a few years ago from the inside, now I'm watching everyone else see it happen from the outside and going through all these emotions all over again π
I think the financial earnings and misrepresentation they did leading up to the Sony acquisition is where they went wrong. This is just the fall out of Destiny being sold as a bigger hit than it ever was.
and thereby yet again will the executives who made that decision get to get out via golden parachutes while the hardworking folks that did their damndest to keep that shit afloat with their labor will be left fucked
It's public record from the Chris Barrett filing, but I think it's about one more year and the execs get the last installment of the Sony money. Then I fully expect a lot of them to leave.
Bungie leadership has perfected the art of screwing up just slowly enough to keep the paychecks coming in. They got REAL good at timegating, apparently.
As a fan of the original series I was really pumped for a new "Marathon" game. I'll still check it out (unless something happened to it I don't know about yet) but it's clearly heading in a different direction.
I canβt imagine the level of mass employee trauma that is about to happen over the next X months as they attempt to turn around the container ship of modern game development. Realistically what can even be done in a year? If they are even given that much time.
