There were policies until Trump took office not to do ICE raids at churches, for example. It was and is worth criticizing the myriad ways that Trumps admin is going for low hanging fruit for deportations rather than targeting criminals or granting any human dignity.
Honestly had not heard that part of it yet. Hate to be that guy making everything about US, but it’s particularly on brand for our current rapid rights erosion. Mea culpa.
(FWIW in your case, I absolutely understand there are policies or guidelines in place where people respect religious sensibilities, but in a land where anyone can start their own religion I don’t *think* you should go down the road of “we can *never* raid this building because god”)
But all policing is essentially by consent, minor or major key (much as the whole “let’s give the police tanks” side of US culture mean it doesn’t always seem that way) so it’s obviously a tricky row to hoe.
