That was the sign on my peg at infants school, in red & yellow. I desperately wanted a real umbrella, but my parents wouldn't let me have one because I was very active & might have hurt my eyes or someone else's. Dangerous things!

I must have started nursery in January 1969. I still have a vivid memory of the smell of lunch cooking in the kitchen and saying hello to the cook as I went past the door every morning. And the candles on my "cake" (plate of buns at morning break) when I was 4.
