Does anyone read the acknowledgements at the back of a book? I do, but maybe I'm weird.
Am currently planning out what acknowledgements I want to put at the end of my next book (out in April) without going overboard. This book is literally decades in the making and lots of thanks are warranted.

I like connecting the dots in the community.
That was you, right?
Thanks on both counts!
BTW, Sebastien de Castell has a clever approach; he sprinkles Easter eggs throughout the acknowledgements.
Acknowledgements sometimes provide insight as to the inspiration for the book. I like that.
I do remember once not realizing I'd be mentioned in a book's acknowledgements and just getting all tingly when I stumbled on it.
I'm used to them being in the back, but maybe I've been wrong all these years....
The author wanted it in, so I’ll read it!
When i skip, it's usually because it's late and I've just finished the book and need sleep.
I think it comes down to storytelling factor
They can be fun and insightful to read. And they don’t take long!
Were your sisters planning to sit through the same film *again*?
I don't. And I usually avoid introductory author's notes.
I want to read and be entertained. I see enough informational "stuff" every day. Books are my escape. Although I don't mind the extras, I seldom pay attention to them.
They helped you or educated you, and [therefore] we wanna know about them.
Please, please [authors], feel free to thank the people who helped you meet your dream. It means a lot to them, and it tells us a lot about you and your process.
Details about the story either in genesis or execution are even better.
I always liked @stephenking.bsky.social 's "Constant Reader" bits as well.
I'm also thinking about what to include in mine, once my WIP is finished. I want to keep them concise, and not go on for pages and pages as some do. It'll be a new challenge.
