Trying to come up with some kind of clever point of comparison between Pulp's comeback single and Arcade Fire's comeback single but I'm just circling and recircling the plain fact that Arcade Fire's song really blows

ahahahaha SPOT ON. Yeah I'll probably get the album out of habit/completism but it's very possible it'll cure me of the latter! They're not that similar stylistically but in retrospect I feel like LC! kinda unintentionally replaced them in my heart.
They’re both maximalists who like to throw twee little flourishes into a sonic tsunami so I can hear the linkage. Every song on All Hell is stronger than the new Chinese zodiac song.
got thoughts on both. not one to speculate but the whole point of the arcade fire video seems to be: "SEE? our marriage is FINE." which, great, i guess. an icky pall remains and the song is so booooooring.
as for pulp, that ai video is a real cake-and-eat-it-too situation.
RE: AF, it's grimly funny that something seemingly designed to reinforce their bond (as well as reassert their prominence in a large band) is so dull that you go "huh, maybe I *can* just give these guys up and not even feel all that conflicted"
