Agree that VC salaries are too high, but most income comes from international students. Should the govt determine how that income is spent? If govt wants to stop this, they should fund universities, not tell them to find private funding & then complain when the unis act like private organisations.

In addressing the excessive salaries of vice-chancellors the first thing to do is to look at who sets the salaries: the governing boards of universities, which are stacked with corporate types (CEOs & their pals) who are themselves overpaid & to whom such excess is normal.
Except for workers, obvs.
