The hot new trend is for teachers to give a research assignment, then students get ChatGPT to write the essay, and then the teachers use ChatGPT to grade those essays.
Why waste time with all that “teaching” and “learning” when LLMs can’t do it all for you?
I quit teaching right before ChatGPT took over the world. I asked one of my former colleagues how teachers and administrators are handling it, and they just shrugged and said, “honor system…?” 🤷♂️🤦♂️
When someone says they use AI extensively in their work you’ll find that prior to that they personally did the research and document construction. They come to the task with knowledge - AI is simply a tool.
The issue is when someone believes that AI can deliver the same outcome without experience
I'm a teacher, when I can be. Sometimes I'm a curriculum developer. I run into of companies desirous of writing digital curriculum so good that it doesn't require teachers to actually teach it. But since they still need a teacher, they hire learning facilitators for < $.
but in an otherwise only semi-engaged lecture, if I say something like "you COULD try this in ChatGPT or Claude" to students, it gets their attention like I said "instant student loan forgiveness" or "free pizza!" until I continue, "but it does a lousy job" then they lose interest again.
Finished a Masters last month and my final paper was AI-free; 37 pages of references self-sourced and none of them used AI, either. Pleased to make your acquaintance, now you know one person in 2025 CE involved in academic study not doing so. Given your pic is AI, hope I’m not check-mating a bot.

It's stupid bullshit.
Why doesn’t this thing have some kind of smart error auto correction tech?
