NATO warns Putin. But Putin (with pact with Xi) is seducing Trump into a dark alley, puts US in real danger. Trump's Kremlin "friend", isolating Europe, will jump Trump/US when the time comes. Does Trump team possess Intelligence? Or just anti-woke/pro-crypto-DOGE grifting ignorance?
Putin will use Little Green Men and say it's a "local insurrection" in the Baltics. Trump would say "well what can ya do, the Russian speakers have been treated very badly there" and the Germans, French, and Italians would endlessly deliberate. NATO's refusal to help Ukraine damaged its credibility.

To preempt any push back from NATO you can bet Trump will withdraw our membership from that allegiance. He'll know when to do it since he and Putin regularly communicate now.
On paper, article 5 and any NATO member involved gets kicked, in reality probably discuss so long that there is no Canada to save anymore. Then, strongly worded letters and condemnations as Americans commit war crines. A Canadian resistance might spring up, but with little foreign support.
