I might be a little clueless, but... why're folks calling this scary? That a company cold called for a collab based on old contact info and ended up deadnaming someone?
Companies tend to keep records, sometimes longer than they have a reason to, sometimes even longer than they are legally supposed to...it's usually not malicious but just born from complacency or technical debt, archiving old records is often low on the priority list of work to do or automate

When this was explained you didn't just calmly ask for your details to be updated but instead got someone fired? 😕
