They don’t have the good sense, or desire to notice their approach is failing and hurting the party. They are married to their ideas, and won’t stop periodically to assess them and their effectiveness. 1/2

I will agree that so many Dems have been in this all or nothing camp for so long that it boggles the mind. I talked to friends who were anti-Harris because of this issue or that issue and it got tiring trying to say “sometimes 1 step ahead is better than back”, but they voted otherwise or didn’t.
I understand young voters with little life experience wanting to indulge their idealistic impulses. They don't understand the reality of how FPTP voting works.
When they stick their nose in the air and say, "I'm voting my conscience!" Without understanding the consequences, I want to slap them.
Same. My brother. Served in the Air Force. Voted for Trump twice. He works for the VA. I haven't heard from him or his wife in over a week which is unusual. I'm thinking he may have lost his job.
2) In '26 and '28 the low-hanging fruit for Dems in states like NV, AZ, PA will be pissed-off Latinos who are often moderate to conservative on social issues, which will be probably be triggering for those on the farthest left
Which would be more encouragement for Dems to tack to the center
1) If I was a professional Dem, looking back on Gore's, Hillary's and Kamala's losses might lead me to think chasing these voters is a no-win proposition
With that in mind, I understand why Dems instinctively tack to the center
When you do not believe in compromise, you seldom ever make progress, but it is always easy to go backward just by blocking a compromise that achieves some progress.
The enemies of compromise have always been the biggest obstacle to all progress.

The millions who didn't vote because of their purity tests are just as culpable as any MAGA cultist.
There's never gonna be a perfect candidate, because Jesus ain't ever gonna be running
That means sometimes (often...) you gotta vote for an imperfect candidate to defeat a far worse candidate
Instead, we got Dubya and trump...twice

If you need to get a tank to stop guarding a bank...make a deal
"What kind of deal?"
"A deal deal. Maybe the guy's a Republican"

Same with Medicare
Same with Civil Rights: we've been passing bills to expand protections since 1964, and the ERA ain't done yet
Make deals, get what's gettable, and keep going
