Allosaurus fragilis, the skull of DINO 2560. It’s one of the best ever found for the species, and the horns are glorious. Given how the bonebed formed, it’s a wonder the reptile was preserved so beautifully. 🧪

What’s neat about A. fragilis is that it was starting to do what we see in the much later tyrannosaurids. The back of the skull is wider than A. jimmadseni, bringing the eyes out to overlap visual fields in front a bit more, with a pinched orbit because of the extra muscle. Bite power.
Thank you for posting this. This particular skull's preservation of the bone textures is amazing and suggests their head crests covered a more significant portion of the upper snout than is usually represented in media.
Also Allosaurus Fragilis can be legit translated to Fragile Queer Lizard. :D
