For anyone that doesn't know programmers generally leave notes for themselves or others within the code to either help them remember what does what or so that other programmers can work on it and understand what each line does.

There's a difference between what you write down knowing exactly what you mean and can recall and AI writing it for you.
However writing personal notes is different as writing them ingrains it into your brain so you can better recall why you wrote things.
No offense if you use AI properly.
I'm an artist so that's a whole different type of AI and a different problem.
“Who wrote this shit?!”
Reads notes
“… oh. I wrote it. Last year. Why the hell did I write it that way?!”
Reads later notes
“Oh. That’s why.”
"Self, when you come back in 8 months, we had to do it this way because that requirement meant even the simple path needs second-guessed in the event of ..."
"Why do you need to leave notes? Because a year after coding you'll forget why you did what you did and need to fix something."
Though similar thing in art when you pull out an old project and have to remember what each layer does. Then you remember why you label everything and then write down why you did that and what it means. "GRY_BNK_GOB" for example
out_seven_span = out_seven_span*1.30303
! to whom it may concern: one of our vendors is lying about their scaling factors and nobody will pay for the hours to figure out who, so I leave you this gift)
