Been watching Cory Booker for much of the day: He is remarkable. His stamina, passion, his speaking the truth for us all. Would that everyone who can is watching (and maybe learning the facts for the 1st time). This is what Democracy looks like. 💪💙

How about asking him why he's still voting for Regime nominees? Why he doesn't object to UC? Why he doesn't put a blanket hold on nominations? Why he doesn't do an actual filibuster & start it in the AM vs. at night (and force quorum calls)? Why not actually obstruct the coup in the Senate?
He's still voting for Regime nominees FFS. So is @amyklobuchar.com and others. Performative games to hide the fact they aren't doing shit to act like an opposition to an ongoing coup.
It causes the least amount of disruption possible, gets the influencers to spin that they're "fighting" when they're not (and to not ask those hard questions of why aren't they). More of the same... political theatrics with no substantive opposition is the goal to mollify the grassroots. IMO.
Although it's commendable the senator beat the previous record, I agree with you. Where was the resistance when it came to DOGE or Greenland? What is the plan of action to resist trump's agenda? Mitch McConnell sure managed to delay delay delay as minority leader while Schumer capitulates. 🙄
Agreed. It's funny though right after that speech not a single democrat, including Booker refused unanimous consent to yet another atrocious regime nominee. Words not tied to actions or meaningless. And for my money, it was more to shut up the public then to actually obstruct the Regime.
I'm very jaded and after a couple hours I was like OK this is great talk, but WHAT IS THE ACTION PLAN?" and unless I hear one, I want to change the channel back to watching Running Point. Only checked back to see if he beat the record as I knew he would because that was the whole point, IMO.
It’s more “Mom look at me” from Dems without really doing anything that has a measurable outcome for Americans. It’s performance art. We need coalitions & strategies to fight Trump policies not a platform for a potential Presidential bid. We need REAL leadership.
for me, wasting the senate’s time so that you can give the people who are coming out in droves to protest an indicator that they are not alone, that’s important, performance art or not.
But if he really wanted impact instead of the spotlight he could have organized 10 Senate Dems to shut it down for 7 to 10 days to demonstrate an organized front. We need coalitions & strategy to stop Trumps policies & disregard for the Constitution not grandstanding!
In the capitalist Society the only thing that matters are outcomes & deliverables. This does nothing to help a single American. In this time of crisis, we need action that matters & has impact not the illusion of action.
If an old, Black baby-making racist can espouse racism and white supremacy for over 24 hours, why are people surprised that a former, elite athlete is doing this?

RESPECT Senator Booker! This is what standing up and fighting for the American people looks like. Filled with gratitude for all the Democrat Senators joining him on his historic filibuster speech! May the force be with him, protect him & empower the people to join the fight.
I appreciate what Booker is doing. But I also want to point out the people who work this many hours daily. They have to have 2 jobs to live. Many have harder jobs than just standing and talking. If you admire Booker and think it’s great, then how about the working poor too?
He is standing up for the working poor. With no bathroom breaks, no food, no chair, and he has to continue speaking whenever someone is not actively asking a question. My voice would have give out at least 10 hours ago.
Cory Booker is a minister at heart. He has such a great love for people it radiates from him. I am sure that everyone that hears him over these very long hours will feel better for it.
