I care that there is gender equity. A separate Ministry does not guarantee anything. Sometimes separate ministries result in “this isn’t our problem” attitude when, in fact, gender equity issues are systemic. Even if there is a separate Ministry, I would want to see equity as part of every mandate.

It is important to have women and other minorities specifically represented because in market downturn times, where people are losing their jobs, businesses tend to layoff women because they think that men are the bread winners of the family. This is wrong and needs to be monitored.
