Yeah I guess so I just don’t participate. I follow who I like and don’t pay attention to the rest of the stuff. It’s the internet it’s all terrible in my opinion.
It’s true that the internet is full of terrible things and people, but for me, that’s not a reason to not care about who owns the site I’m using. Like the bar analogy, I guess. But each to his own.
I find it easy to tailor my X feed to only see stuff that interests me, so no horrors. I use the block button liberally. You can remove followers on X which you can’t do here. That’s what stops me leaving. The ads are f**king annoying though unless you pay Space Karen big bucks to get rid of them.
You can block people on here. For me, even if I see no right wing stuff, I can’t not know who it’s owned by and whose site I’m participating in. Just like the bar analogy. But I realise that’s not everyone’s view.
True, blocking’s an option here, but it doesn’t remove the account from your followers list. You can’t protect your posts on here either like you can on X. It’s a much nicer place than X but it really annoys me that I get spammers & porn accounts following me & I can’t stop them.
Oh really, I don’t understand really, when a spammer or porn account follows me, I block them, I assume that means they can no longer interact with my posts or me?
You’re right. I was discombobulated by the way the info I googled was worded. It says, “… you can also remove followers by blocking and then unblocking them, although this does not remove them from your follower count.” It was the last bit re follower count that confused me.
