Accommodations would mean they have less control over their workers. That's what mandatory non-remote work is about, why they have gyms on company grounds, why they used to have company scrip.

Some of them might even buy their own hype about productivity being the reason, but that was never the main purpose. If they have workers on their property under their direct supervision, they have more control. Not just their work, but of the lives of that economic class.

And they pretty much openly said things like that, over and over again, throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s. Then they stopped openly saying it to avoid criticism from labour movements, but they've fought tooth and nail to keep as much of those old systems as possible.

Yeah I think this is what got me the angriest in 2020, was when I stayed home from my food service job because I was living with immunocompromised family, and in the six weeks I was out of work I got more money than I’d ever seen in one place from unemployment.

We still have telehealth. My therapist appointments are all remote, as is any type of health care that doesn't need my physical presence.

That being said, fuck the orange asshole who decided that I can't work remotely anymore. It's an 1.5 hour drive to get to my work site.

Might I add, you'd think they'd have developed an understanding and empathy for disabled and marginalised people. The lockdowns gave them the feelings of isolation we often experience.
