Each of us does not have a hotline to God & can interpret the Bible any way that we want to. This doesn’t mean the Holy Spirit doesn't speak to us as individuals, but on important issues it is the Church, guided by the Holy Spirit, who affirms any individual view or experience - e.g.St Francis.
