the 32-bit x series games are also nice looking, but they rely much more heavily on prerendered 3d backdrops, whereas mm8 is almost entirely pure pixel art. it's so CRISP. the colors are so vibrant, the enemies are so cartoony and fluid. it's something special

Megaman 8 & megaman X4 were one of the peaks of the franchise, next to the latter half of zero. It's so sad that this kind of game has been pretty much dropped nowadays, you don't see a lot of studios make both good prestige video games and lower budget "look at this shit" games.

It's like, intie creates is pretty much just lifting that niche of capcopm and doing it on it's own, and they're all kinda trashy and derivative. Very design by commission and stuff "Studio we will make megaman battle network now" "yes boss" kinda stuff.

Also the intie creates megaman games have some other problems too, they feel like they weren't playtested, but since the team knows what made megaman x6 x7 flop was the difficulty they just kind of added 1-3 mechanics that makes the game impossible to lose, which just feels bad.

Like, I know I control the buttons I press, I can just not engage with these mechanics, but if in GV3 gunvolt berserk mode triggers automatically and the only way I can accept my death with honor is by going to the top left corner and waiting for 20 seconds it just feels like I'm pretending to play

It also just looks so fluid in a way that even videos don't do justice.

8 is one of those games where you need to play it to really understand but MAN I would just sit around at points and watch because it looks so gorgeous

While I'm not a fan of the game due to it's difficulty, I gotta agree that it might be the best looking Megaman game ever made.

Mega Man 8 is possibly the best looking game in the whole series. (Zero and ZX may get close at times though.)
