I hear the opening number in my head while I share this trivia. April is based off the Lupin the 3rd famous character, Fujiko Mine

with her outfit specifically on episode 155 (so 1980), the last episode of the 2nd anime, the one that Hayao Miyazaki (famous for Studio Ghibli) did before
