Because the MAGA musbrains are too stupid, and the Oligarchs want to rape the planet for money while they are here. They could care less about the future.
Everyone knows climate change is real but to agree is to admit we had a part in it.
So it's more a matter of often weak or emotional people being unable to admit they made a mistake. It wasn't them it's always someone else. Unfortunately this child like behavior has become normalized.
Anyway, even if it didn't murder the world, smog kills plenty of people every year.
Why average citizens think we should not breath clean air because it might make stupidly rich people they don't even know a little less rich is insane.
Oligarchs run our countries and they never have enough money. Cleaning up manufacturing processes cuts into their profits and a billion dollars isn't enough for their level of greed.
the reason why ppl psrrot the hoax shit is bc they want an excuse not to change anything or acknowledge that they may have the rug pulled from beneath them
While we debate, they build their ivory towers higher by the hour.
Whatever we decide on doesn't matter a dogfart of an opinion.
Remember any BLM protest, occupy Wall Street, Fridays for Future, u remember the action but don't remember the outcome, right? Because there was none
One real result would be the economies of states that depend a lot on fossil fuel extraction would be gutted. That is one reason they vote red so much. Get those places to change their economies and we might have a shot.
Tax incentives and tuition-free schooling/retraining on renewable energy jobs. This was brought up in the past and offered - but met with skepticism about feasibility - both about how the Gov would fund it and how much of the job re-training would actually be understood by the workers.
I think one problem with renewable energy jobs as the answer is that there is not near as much money in them as in fossil fuel. Oil and gas drilling are good paying jobs that people actually like to do. They like the schedules, the pay and the people they work with.
That's all fine and good but what's going to happen when the fossil fuels run out? These people need to be considering the future of the job rather than the present.
This operates under the idea that what happens is in any way related to what is best for society or the planet.
The answers to the big problems are all fucking easy. The real question is how do we impliment solutions when rich psychopaths are organized against paying their dues (or anything.)
Back in the early 1970's when I was a kid, I remember the news pictures of New York City, Chicago, across the rust belt, where you couldn't see 1 mile due to smog. A couple years after the EPA regulations, you could see for miles. Don't really want to go back to seeing what I'm breathing.
I’m sorry, but I don’t like this. I’m not even going to entertain the idea that Climate Change might be a “hoax.” What is not a hoax is that we are under attack from a massive propaganda campaign financed by the huge oil coal and gas corporations. We can’t even pretend to accept their propaganda.
Conservative groups may have spent up to $1bn a year on the effort to deny science and oppose action on climate change, according to the first extensive study into the anatomy of the anti-climate effort. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10584-013-1018-7
Because everyone with any power to change it would rather live their best life in absolute hedonistic luxury than save the species. Seems to be a uniquely human trait really.

That's like saying I don't know if it's true my husband is cheating on me but I'm gonna take all the precautions as if he is.
Is that a good comparison or nah? I feel like it is? 🤷🏾♂️ Lol

It gets even worse:
