I walked the Double Cross Trail yesterday. West Portal and Hayes Valley were hopping.

Don't white collars work at home on Fridays now? Makes it hard to celebrate a Friday shopping 'holiday' downtown. Come on, downtown, I like you a lot, but get with the times!

The trail ends at Pier 23. The namesake restaurant, an otherwise fine establishment, sadly closes the kitchen after senior early bird hours these days. Kudos to Sam's for staying open (and for their fabulous dog-friendly patio).

I was there in the area in the evening and was surprisingly had people walking around, taking pictures of the lighted tree. Slowly…but surely.
