Did you know that people who take warfarin have to limit the amount of green leafy veg and brassica due to the levels of vitamin K? It's a good enough reason to pass on broccoli. Although I do like it in my fried rice/fish stir fry thing I do.
I mean no, tonight I have cooked for you some kind of meat or fish and some vegetables, the meat and fish are a bit pricey these days but the vegetables are fresh and affordable and simple so you don't have to pretend to like them or add loads of salt and butter to make them special.
that's fair but it's not something I can get away with, as a chef. Everything must work with and complement everything else and the thing is, they usually don't. What annoys me is the endless cauliflower purée or broccoli in tempura done as a transparent effort to make them interesting. They're not.
like, all you're getting from broccoli here is some texture and even that won't properly work because it never retains full crunch unless it's actually raw; you could put that stuff on a Cream Cracker and it would be nicer.
this is essentially my take on kale. There are loads of great kale recipes, really, there are, but not a single one would not be improved by omitting the kale.

The stats say around 70% of people can taste PTC - this seems to fly in the face of the popularity of broccoli. Also, brocccoli does not contain PTC, it contains (the similar) glucosinolate, which breaks down when cooked. Particularly when roasted, hence that roasted broccoli & parmesan recipe!
Okay cauliflower cheese is mainly the cheese…
But how about a good chickpea and cauliflower curry? Roast cauliflower with cumin and coriander?
Depends on the cauliflower and how it’s cooked, some do just smell and taste like old socks
Stir fried broccoli with roasted garlic and soy sauce is delicious, as is stir fried cauliflower with cumin seed - the latter clearly tasting more of cumin than cauliflower but it’s still a runner at home. People who boil broccoli should be forced to eat it.
