It’s probably the least secure of all the platforms, as most of them by now default to e2e encryption and Telegram still makes you opt-in and turn it on. You might as well just use a DM smh

And from what I’ve heard IOT opt in you have to jump through a bunch of hoops, that aren’t user friendly. It grinds me that they still sell themselves in the App Store as “secure”.

Keep in mind too, E2EE is only effect if BOTH ends are set for encrypted. You can secure *your* end, but if the person you send a DM to, doesn't have theirs set, if their end gets compromised, then you don't really have privacy at all.

Also, this is speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised if after Durov got arrested in France, the glowies twisted his arm to put backdoors in Telegram. That app is so compromised.

ToX Protocol/qTox is fairly decent. Mostly peer 2 peer, the only central system is basically the identification of the PCs aka nodes between each other -- use it from behind Tor for layered security
