In a world driven by self-interest, altruism stands as a beacon of hope. It challenges us to transcend our own desires and embrace the needs of others. True progress is measured not by what we gain, but by what we give. #3E

Does this same philosophy work for something like a brand new, perfectly clean, public bathroom that the public proceeds to smeer their shit on the walls of? Or a nice beach opening up we can throw our trash onto? Because i hope that same altruism covers very very basic manors and decency
Nature moves towards equilibrium. To give is to receive. These are the natural laws in thermodynamics, ecological succession, chemical equilibrium, population dynamics, the water cycle, and all other natural laws. We cannot take more than we give. Nature always wins.
While I agree what we give is a measure of progress, what we lose is as important. Maybe more. People giving is often driven by self-interest, as a way to gain community status. We must lose self-interest before altruism is achieved.
Altruism, selfless love, is the one goal of the universe. It appears across species and is the source of the human spiritual experience; it is what connects us. It is the antidote to fear and greed and hate
