Being in Mexico all my life sometimes I forget meat lovers' pizza having chorizo is not a thing in most places and I just get really sad and worried for everyone.

My local pizza place had a "South of the border" pizza with taco ingredients, but they used gyro meat instead of like, ground beef or chicken. It was really good, though.
The usual American taco stuff, shredded lettuce, tomato, salsa, cheddar. It was pretty unremarkable aside frome the choice of meat. But it's one of those things that's etched into my brain from childhood.
Here in Tijuana not long ago it was getting popular for some taquerías to take your pizza and put carne asada or adobada/al pastor on it along with other regional taco fixings!
YESSSSS! Nice!!! Yeah, from what I've observed SoCal, SD from more personal observation, but also LA are very good for access to some real-deal Mexican food! Let alone chorizo on pizza eheheheh
of the three alternatives locally, we have cabanossi, which is a very mild smoked pork sausage, pepperoni of course, and there's a place that uses proper hot salami and it's freakin' glorious.

Here in Mexico even branches of US franchises like Domino's or Pizza Hut have it as an option! Let alone local spots
I think is originally from Spain and Portugal but is also common in Latin America, including Mexico, and has many variations of it due to that.
Also, chorizo is often characterized for being a very red sausage/meat!
