We are having a wyrm family debate:
What is your favorite opening song on an album?
Redwyrm: Where the Streets Have No Name by U2
Mama Wyrm: Plainsong by The Cure
Wyrmling: Tie between Welcome to the Jungle and the Immigrant Song
We also considered Cherub Rock, Teen Spirit, and Purple Haze.

I have never heard of Avenue Q before.
The best way for me to describe Avenue Q would be Sesame Street for adults.
Robert Lopez (EGOT winner of Frozen fame) wrote the music, if that's any indication of the quality.
— Supertramp
First one that sprung to my mind as I scrolled by was once
https://youtu.be/3i575s4hbu0?si=czg0RInVWQoODipv
Somebody to Shove - Soul Asylum
Billy Joel - Allentown - The Nylon Curtain
Elton John - Tiny Dancer - Madman Across the Water
Genesis - Dance on a Volcano - A Trick of the Tail
Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight - Face Value
Live - The Dam at Otter Creek - Throwing Copper
Anyone who still listens to albums is dedicated to music and their bands.
I probably have quite a few to list if I think about it 😳
▶️ The Killers - Hot Fuss - Jenny Was a Friend of Mine
▶️ OutKast - Stankonia - Gasoline Dreams
▶️ Kanye West - The College Dropout - We Don’t Care
▶️ Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Deluxe - Super Beast
▶️ Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory - Papercut
Epic. And also free. Double epic. And tipsy on free booze.
My chemical romance.
It blends perfectly into the next song with such fun energy.
(Also, I really like your wording of "favorite" instead of "best").
Wow a 9:14 song is a long opener. Not really my style, but I enjoyed the guitar solo at 2:10 and the breakdown around 3:00. The singing around 6:40 is quite fun as well and contrasts nicely with the harsher vocals.
Tool-AEnima-Stinkfist
Metallica-Black Album- Enter Sandman
Ransacks house for CD case...
Finds a bunch of stuff from 1995-2006~
Most of my stuff is Metal, Hard Rock, Rock, Ska, with 2 country albums thrown in and Enya and Eminem
Stinkfist is one of my favorite Tool songs. The intro twang sound draws you right in. But I can't hear the song without thinking of the creepy video.
I liked trademark USA - Baby Keem. grew up with rocks but never with an-album listening experience until I listen to hip hop.
I am not familiar trademark usa so I will need to go listen to that one.
Trademark on that pussy trademarkin my brand new bitch (yeah)
Boys II Men Thank You
Hard Times - Paramore
My vote is for Rock Me Right, from Susan Tedeschi's major debut, Just Won't Burn.
It just comes right for you and jumps down your ears
If you consider film soundtracks, I’d say “Main Theme” from Logan.
If not, probably “15 step” off of Radiohead’s “In Rainbows” (which is also my favorite lyrical album)
My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge - Helena
Nightwish - Once - Dark Chest of Wonders
John Williams - Star Wars - Main Title
Also a contender for best last song on an album.
Come Together is a great start to Abbey Road. Oh and American Idiot is an amazing start to the album of the same name.
