My daughter learned to read to get over the frustration of not knowing where to go next in a video game that she loved. It's reading with meaningful incremental goals (one might say scaffolding...). Jane McGonigal talks about it as having meaningful work to do.

That's so cool!! It makes sense- introducing reading as a way to navigate the world rather than just letters on a page you get graded on. I definitely played a lot of spelling games even in my free time 😂

Hell yeah why not! Designations are only useful if we can add more to them and expand understanding 😀 id also argue that murder mystery books can be games too if you try to solve with your sleuth! To be human is to be gamer
