Loved this episode! I think it’s worth pointing out that Australia has preferential voting, which means that ballots are recounted and the voters preferences are distributed to determine the outcome, quite different from the first past the post system. Also voting is compulsory here, so turnout is

Never a consideration. Another thing, while most of the Teal candidates are women, there have been men backed by Climate 200 as well. David Pocock is a notable independent- although he turned down funding for this most recent election.

Under different leadership, the PLP has the potential to reinstate social democracy and the majority it needs to do so. Our best hope, to my mind, is that the party wakes up to that fact. Starmer took the leadership dishonestly anyway; there need be no qualms about taking it off him.

I feel like the ABC feels less of a need to provide "balance" by getting those with fringe views on than the BBC does. The Guardian edition here is also good.
Because the Murdoch stuff is all pay walled, it is fairly easy to avoid most of it without actively trying.
