The audience of the FT (global, educated, liberal) and the audience of Fox (domestic, low education, conservative) are about as different as they get, so not sure what your point is….
We know that
-the odds of peace breaking out are low
-the odds of a Palestinian state are near zero
-the odds of regime change induced by this are low
-the odds the 'ummah unites' are... low
-the odds of a second strike are high, not elevated, but high
Iran has to retaliate without the US retaliating back, all while Israel is pushing the US in any possible way to retaliate back and/or topple the government.
Cui bono, always the same, Israel. Who gets dogwalked, always the same, America.
The other part is that the Iran threat has been essential to Netanyahu’s efforts to distract Americans from the Israeli-Palestinian problem, literally since he first came to power in the 1990s. Now, in addition, he faces the challenge of keeping right-wing….
….members of his coalition happy with him in the face of his failure to achieve his declared objectives with respect to Hamas in Gaza. Trump’s sneak attack this weekend, and its evident coordination with the Israelis, is great for Netanyahu. He looks like he has the Americans on a leash.
