If you feel "abandoned" because some scholars of fascism are moving to Canada, may I suggest developing and cultivating strong community bonds?
Because if you're feeling well held-down by your community, some random author leaving the US is not a thing that should be upsetting you. You know?

Like there's many people who are rightly fearful for their lives rn, or soon will be, and running to live another day is never wrong.
I know where I'm needed and where I add the most value. It's mostly not scholarship or writing. I'm glad there are people who have those skills
But there are people who are REALLY upset by this, and I believe that's a sign that those people have *only* symbols to hang onto right now.
Being in community means we have more than just symbols to occupy us.
Bro, they’re leaving because they can. Does that bug you? Good.
Fascism is capitalism when times get tough.
I was not counting on Jason Stanley and Timothy Snyder manning the barricades beside me.
That's not a knock on them at all. I love their work. Their work is valuable.
But they're not part of my community. What they do is their business.
