It’s Republicans that have made it a main goal to defund/privatize our government. They cut taxes on the rich then use the resulting debt/deficit explosion to convince Americans who don’t pay close attention that we can’t afford Social Security, healthcare, good public schools etc.

GOP has wanted to dismantle the federal government for decades. If people die or get sick / disabled, so be it. It's the price they are fine with paying.
